Betty has five tools to keep play in check. You can set deposit, loss and playtime limits by day, week or month. You can take a timeout of 1 day to 3 months.

You can self-exclude for 6 months to 5 years. Each province also runs a programme that blocks you from every regulated site at once.

What responsible gambling tools does Betty have?

Betty offers three kinds of limit and two kinds of break. Limits let you keep playing inside a boundary. Breaks stop play altogether for a set time.

All five sit in one menu: Account, then Responsible Gaming. You do not need to contact support or give a reason to use any of them.

How do you set a deposit, loss or playtime limit?

The steps are the same for all three limits.

  1. Log in and open Account.
  2. Select Responsible Gaming.
  3. Choose Deposit Limits, Loss Limit or Playtime Limits.
  4. Pick a period: daily, weekly or monthly.
  5. Enter the amount or time, and confirm.

Betty defines the periods exactly:

Once you hit a limit, you cannot deposit, lose or play more until the period resets. Each limit works on its own, so you can use one or all three.

What happens when you change a limit?

Making a limit stricter takes effect straight away. Raising or removing one triggers a 24-hour cooling-off period first. That delay is deliberate. It stops a decision made in the heat of a session.

What does “net loss” mean?

Betty’s loss limit is a net limit. Winnings during the period are added back to what you may lose.

Worked example. You set a daily loss limit of $50.

A loss limit therefore caps how far below your starting point you can go. It does not cap your total bets. If you want a hard cap on money going in, use a deposit limit.

How do you take a timeout from Betty?

A timeout is a short break you choose yourself. Betty offers five lengths: 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 2 months and 3 months. Set it under Account, Responsible Gaming, Timeout.

During a timeout you cannot play. Betty says the account stays open for withdrawals, so you can still take your money out.

A timeout suits a busy month, exam season, or a week when you notice you are playing more than you meant to.

Can you end a timeout early?

Betty’s help centre has articles on ending a timeout early and on extending one, for each province. We could not confirm their full text.

Plan as though a timeout cannot be shortened. That is how the tool is meant to work, and a break you can cancel at any moment protects you less. Pick the shortest length you are sure about, then extend it if you need to.

How do you self-exclude from Betty?

Self-exclusion is a longer, firmer block. Use it if you are worried about your gambling.

  1. Go to Account → Responsible Gaming → Self Exclusion.
  2. Choose a period: 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, 2 years, 4 years or 5 years.
  3. Confirm the request.

Three things happen at once. You are logged out. You cannot get back in for the whole period. Betty removes you from all marketing messages.

If money is left in the account, contact support and they will help you withdraw it. See how to contact Betty.

What happens when self-exclusion ends?

The account does not reopen by itself. Betty says it stays closed after the period ends. To use it again, you must ask support in writing.

That extra step gives you a moment to decide whether you really want to return.

How do you self-exclude from every site in your province?

Betty’s own tool blocks Betty only. Each province runs a central programme that covers every regulated site.

Four levels of control. Choose the lightest one that will actually work for you.

A normal account closure is under Account, My Profile, Close Account. Closure is not a safety tool. If you are worried, choose self-exclusion, because it cannot be undone on a whim.

What are the signs of a gambling problem?

Betty’s help centre has a page on this for each province. Common warning signs include:

One sign is enough reason to talk to someone. The services above can help you work out what to do next. We are not counsellors, and this list is not a diagnosis.

Why is Betty asking about your finances?

Betty may ask about your income or where your gambling money comes from. This is called a source-of-funds check. Regulated casinos must run it to prevent money laundering and to spot play that looks unaffordable.

Betty’s help centre says there are consequences if you refuse to answer. We could not confirm the detail, but in general an unanswered check can lead to limits on the account. Answer honestly and keep copies of what you send.
